The Agency Difference
When you hire an independent doula, you're hiring one person. That person may be wonderful — experienced, warm, and exactly who you envisioned. But you're also taking on the full weight of the hiring process: vetting credentials, reviewing contracts, and hoping everything goes according to plan.
And sometimes, it doesn't. Doulas get sick. Family emergencies happen. Life is unpredictable — especially around birth.
When you hire through Connected Doulas, we take all of that off your plate.
- We handle the vetting, the contracts, the matching, and the backup coverage. From your first conversation to your final visit, our agency stays involved so you can be fully present with your family instead of managing logistics.
- We have an experienced admin team handling scheduling, backup coordination, insurance reimbursement, and communication, you and your doula can focus entirely on what matters — your care.
- Plus... you're choosing from a tight-knit team of doulas who know each other personally, have worked together for years, and are held to a consistent standard of care.
How We Vet Our Doulas
Every doula on our team has been reviewed and approved by our team before they ever meet a client. That means we look at their training and certifications, their experience across birth settings and postpartum environments, their references, and — just as importantly — whether they're the kind of person we'd trust with someone we love.
Not every applicant makes it onto our team. That's intentional. We'd rather have a smaller roster of doulas we believe in completely than a large one we can only vouch for on paper.

Every family comes to us with a different history, needs, and vision for their care. Our intake process is designed to understand what your family actually needs. We match you with a doula whose experience, personality, and availability align.

OUR HOME BASE
Connected Doulas was founded in Greater Philadelphia and this remains our most established community. We serve Philadelphia, the Main Line, Chester County, Montgomery County, Delaware County, Northern Delaware, and Southern New Jersey.
Our Philly team's relationships with local birth professionals, hospitals, and families run deep — built one family at a time over years of work. We're proud to be the winner of the Philadelphia Family LOVE Award and a Main Line Parent Family Favorite.
Denver
A NATURAL EXPANSION
With founder Emma relocating to Colorado, expanding Connected Doulas to Denver was less a business decision than a deeply personal one. The same care that has defined our Philadelphia network is now taking root in Denver — the same hiring standards, the same matching process, the same philosophy.
