We cannot say enough wonderful things about Connected Transitions! Their overnight doulas were a lifesaver during the early weeks with our newborn. They provided such calm, professional, and compassionate care that gave us peace of mind and much-needed rest. Not only did they care for our baby so lovingly, but they also supported us as new parents, offering advice, reassurance, and encouragement. It was clear they were highly experienced and genuinely cared about our family’s well-being. Thanks to Nichole (our doula) and Emma (helped with things behind the scenes), we felt confident and rested in a time that can often feel overwhelming. Highly recommend their services to any new or expecting parents!

I had a wonderful experience working with Connected Transitions. They were very responsive and thorough in connecting me with a birth doula and postpartum doula. Jazmine and Adriane were both amazing to work with as postpartum doulas and it was great to know my LO was taken care so my husband and I could get some rest at night. Jazmine was an awesome birth doula - she was very knowledgeable, asked great questions, and incredibly non-judgmental. I highly recommend.

I highly recommend using the doula services of Connected Transitions! I got doula for both birth and postpartum. As a nervous and clueless first time mom, I felt very supported and empowered throughout the whole journey. I got matched with a wonderful doula and back up doula as well. They explained everything and worked with me. I appreciated the warmth and flexibility of my doula. She was always there for me! I couldn’t have done it without Connected Transitions! Administrative things are also great- one less thing to worry about in your busy time. Right from the first email to getting invoices at the end- everything was seamless. They make everything as easy for you as possible!

Anna was an incredible doula and I was grateful to have her expertise and calming presence by my side during the birth of my daughter. Our prenatal visits were very informative and put my mind at ease heading into the final days of pregnancy as a first time mom. I would highly recommend Anna to anyone looking for a positive, organized, informative, and personable birth doula.

Connected Doulas changed my life. Specifically, our doula, Bernadette, who we have the absolute pleasure and joy of working with. Bernadette cares for our son with so much kindness, dedication, and thoughtfulness. We love all of the Montessori childhood development education she brings to her work as well. We have learned SO MUCH FROM HER (so much. it's actually terrifying in retrospect how little we knew even though we thought we did all of our homework??) and our son absolutely adores her. It's so immediately clear that she has that "magic touch" with babies. Bernadette has the magic touch with grown-ups too: She cares for my husband and I with just as much kindness, thoughtfulness, and so much EMPATHY. Zero judgment from her. Bernadette has truly made it possible for us to breathe, to enjoy this special time, to worry less, and to become stronger parents. HAVING A BABY IS HARD. (No sh*t.) Bernadette knows this, understands this, helps remove some of the mental and physical load, feeds us healthy foods (we were eating like college students during finals for a period there just to survive), allows us to R E S T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, helps us find order among the chaos, teaches us, comforts me (I'm a crier...). Emma Yoder, owner of Connected Doulas, has been AMAZING throughout the process as well. She and her wonderful, wonderful team -- Carolyn, Monica, everyone else we've had the pleasure of speaking to (and asking a million and one questions to) make everything so easy. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL. I could write a million more words of gratitude but my baby just woke up from a nap! G2g!!!!

Connected Transitions was an incredible source of support and guidance to help us bring our newborn girl - our first baby - home. Anna M. was our birth doula leading up to and during delivery, and provided support as well when after we got home. Anna was a wealth of knowledge about the birthing process and was an amazing person bringing positive and supportive energy into the room as I delivered. Anna also helped me to navigate breastfeeding as well, such an important but also stressful part of the newborn stage. I am so thrilled to recommend Anna as an amazing birth doula and for any continuing care - and the whole team at Connected Transitions to help any new parents and parents-to-be to navigate this process.

I got to work with Emma and her Team from an "outside perspective" when I photographed her branding photos for her business, and I was blown away!! Although I wasn't a birth client, I can still vouch for Emma and her team because I got to experience their wealth of knowledge surrounding prenatal care, labor & delivery and post-partum support.. there's no denying that they are all incredibly passionate about serving, caring and loving on you no matter what stage you're in!! I got to see how the members of her team were so encouraging, helpful, supportive, welcoming, comforting, and kind not just to the clients but also as a team! The gentle care and support that everyone displayed during the session was, I'm sure, just a FRACTION of how amazing they are during a full pregnancy journey. Clear and easy-to-understand communication, they were super educating to the models that we used, and I walked away learning so much! Emma and her Team go so so so above and beyond in serving momma's and families during this special time that made me realize just how valuable their business is!! If you're desiring any pregnancy/postpartum support - check out all that Emma and her team have to offer - you won't be disappointed!!

We had a good experience with Connected Transitions. I had a complicated delivery and the whole team at Connected Transitions came to my rescue. My birth and postpartum doula, Laura, was an absolute Rockstar and went above and beyond for us. My postpartum doula, Colleen, is a BABY WHISPERER and cooked us delicious and healing meals that helped me recovery and get strong. Our other doula, Maria, brought wisdom and experience as well as calm, warm demeanor to helping us transition to parenthood.

I had a phenomenal birthing experience working with my doula, Laura Walker for the birth of our daughter Abby (photo attached)! Laura was an excellent guide in helping us prepare for the birth and giving good suggestions for exercises, educational material, and questions to consider. She truly exceeding our expectations for providing emotional support//coaching during our birthing experience at Pennsylvania Hospital and de-brief in the postpartum period. I appreciate all that Connected Transitions did to facilitate our relationship and help bring our daughter into the world.

My family and I are so grateful to have found Connected Transitions. We were connected with Colleen as our postpartum doula and to say she was incredible is such an understatement. She was always professional, responsive, organized, prompt, kind, calm, warm and caring. She was above and beyond our expectations. Emma and the team at Connected Transitions were a great postpartum support to me and family. We had a total of three postpartum doulas and although they each had their own style, they were all truly wonderful and made the postpartum experience much better for us. They had such a calm presence, were great with our newborn twins, and super helpful with laundry/diaper trash/house stuff while I was feeding the babies and when they were sleeping. I would recommend Connected Transitions to any family (and especially any family expecting twins!) to help with those early weeks and sleepless nights.

My husband and I worked closely with Emma, Jenn, and Maria throughout our pregnancy and 4th trimester for our first born. And let me tell you, this team has been an absolute pleasure to work with - we cannot recommend them highly enough! First, Emma and her admin team were so incredibly helpful and responsive since day 1. Emma took the time to get to know us so she could thoughtfully match us with doulas that fit exactly what we were looking for. She also worked with our insurance company to make sure any eligible services were covered, which was a huge help! Jenn Mendez was our birth doula and was truly everything we ever wanted and more. My husband and I joked that we got our money’s worth after just one conversation with Jenn, where she went over a ton of valuable information and answered our long list of questions with compassion and expertise. Any worry or concerns (or ignorance) I had about labor and delivery were gone as soon as we met Jenn. She exudes calm, confidence, and warmth, and I’ll never forget the relief I felt when she arrived at the hospital for our son’s birth. She was also in our speed dial afterwards to address any questions as we settled into parenthood - we could not be more grateful for the support Jenn provided for our new family. We also worked with Maria Larson for postpartum support, and she similarly brought a calming presence to an otherwise hectic time in our lives. I always looked forward to afternoons with Maria. Not only did she afford me a much-needed afternoon nap, shower, and time to get our home in order, but she also was a wonderful companion to chat with after a long morning of baby talk and was willing to flexibly plan around our unpredictable schedules. Our son loved his time with Maria - whether it was playtime or snuggles - he was always happy and well cared for with her.

I couldn’t be happier with Emma and Connected Transitions. We hired Emma as a post Pardum doula when we brought our twins home from the hospital. I couldn’t have done it without her. Trying to raise a 4 year old and take care of preemies was a lot for us. Emma was able to give me support both for myself and the babies. I learned so much and I was able to get much needed rest. Once Emma had to start with her next client , her company found another doula who we continued with for quite some time. We were so happy Thamar as well! Having a postpartum doula radically transformed my postpartum experience with my second baby. Emma and my doulas, Colleen and Lebo, were kind and caring at every turn. I was referred Emma & her team by a close family member. After a challenging end to pregnancy & delivery, we decided some extra night support would be really helpful for the first few months. Emma is truly an angel on earth. She helped me learn about my baby, provided tips and tricks for sleeping, feedings, and more. She helped me build my confidence as a new mom, without any judgement. And her team is an extension of her - I also utilized other members (Marcie) and their lactation consulting services (Brittany). Everyone at connected transitions feels like an extension of your family. They truly helped us during the critical transition into new parenthood and we’re forever grateful! Emma and her team have made the newborn months so much better than I ever imagined. With the support of her and other postpartum doulas at Connected Transitions, I was able to rest and heal from my c-section, ease the transition for my first-born by being able to spend valuable time with him, and stay on top of some of the everyday hassle that can feel like a mountain when you are newly-postpartum. The communication between doulas really set CT apart from other doula companies we have worked with in the past. They took and shared diligent notes each night, which other doulas on the team could rely upon for the most recent updates to my baby’s schedule/routine. Every doula that walked in the door was kind, skilled, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and felt invested in our success. My family and I had the privilege of working with Connected Transitions and their amazing team of postpartum night doulas, Moira and Monica. As a new mom, I was feeling overwhelmed and sleep-deprived, and their support was a godsend! Moira and Monica were warm, compassionate, and incredibly skilled. They listened carefully to my concerns and provided expert guidance on everything from breastfeeding to newborn care to sleep patterns. They were always available to answer my questions and offer support whenever I needed it (which was often as a first time mom!) Their practical support was also invaluable. They supported me in taking care of all the nighttime needs of my baby, including diaper changes, soothing, and feedings. They even assisted with laundry and bottle/ pump parts cleaning, which was incredibly helpful! Thanks to their support, I was able to get the rest I needed to feel more alert and focused during the day to be the best mom I could to our little boy. They were both incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. Their compassionate care helped me feel more confident and empowered as a new mom, and my husband and I will always be grateful for their help during this special time!! We had a great experience with Emma (amazing) and Connected Transitions. She went above and beyond to answer our questions (and brought us formula and gas drops when we were just home from the hospital with our twins and had a hard time getting out) about how a night doula could help. Each time I went downstairs in the morning, our bottles were ready to go and the babies laundry was clean and organized. A layer of stress from having newborn twins was gone and I felt refreshed. 🌟 **The Benefits of Delayed Cord Clamping** 🌟

Did you know that waiting to clamp and cut the umbilical cord after birth can have significant benefits for both baby and mother? 🤰✨

🔍 **What is Delayed Cord Clamping?**

Delayed cord clamping is the practice of waiting at least 1-3 minutes after birth before cutting the umbilical cord. This allows for the continued transfer of blood from the placenta to the newborn, enhancing their transition into the world.

💖 **Benefits for the Baby**

**Increased Blood Volume**
Delayed clamping can provide the baby with an extra 30% more blood, enriching their oxygen supply and improving overall health.
 **Higher Iron Levels**
This extra blood can lead to higher iron levels, reducing the risk of anemia in infancy.
**Better Transition**
The gradual transition helps stabilize the baby's heart rate and temperature.

🤱 **Benefits for mom**

**Reduced Risk of Postpartum Hemorrhage**
Delayed clamping can help the uterus contract more effectively, potentially reducing the risk of excessive bleeding after childbirth.
**Enhanced Bonding**
This waiting period allows for skin-to-skin contact, fostering that vital early bond between parent and baby.

📅 **When to Delay**

Most healthcare providers support delayed cord clamping unless there are medical emergencies that require immediate intervention. Ideally, wait for the cord to stop pulsing (wait for white).

Let's embrace the power of this simple practice that can make a big difference! 💕 Have you experienced delayed cord clamping? Share your thoughts below! 👇 #DelayedCordClamping #BirthBenefits #EmpoweredBirth #NewbornHealth #ParentingJourney

Deciding when to head to the hospital or birth center can seem like a big question, but it's really simple!

WAIT UNTIL 4️⃣-1️⃣-1️⃣
Contractions are 4 minutes apart,
lasting a full 60 seconds, for over an hour.
At this point, they are usually so strong you can't walk or talk during them.

The best foods to eat postpartum are nutrient-dense, easy to digest, and provide the necessary energy and nourishment for healing and breastfeeding.
I love pulling from traditional Ayurvedic foods to help heal your body and soul after birth.

💛Ghee, or clarified butter, is considered a nourishing and grounding staple. Most often used in postpartum recipes to support digestion, provide energy, and promote healing.

🤎Kitchari is a traditional Ayurvedic dish made with a combination of rice, mung beans, ghee, and spices. This delicious, soft meal provides essential nutrients for deep healing.

❤️Warm, cooked foods like soups and stews are frequently used in Ayurveda. They are easy to digest, comforting, and can help support the body's healing process.

🧡Ayurvedic spices such as turmeric, ginger, cumin, coriander, and fenugreek are often used in postpartum cooking to aid digestion, reduce inflammation, and support overall well-being.

💚Herbal teas made from herbs like fennel, fenugreek, ginger, turmeric, cardamom and chamomile can help support digestion, reduce bloating, and promote relaxation, hormone balance and milk production

Let's break the stigma this week and start a conversation about perinatal and postpartum mood disorders. 🧠

PPMDs affect 1 in 5 people ‼️ (not just the mothers but their partners as well).
It's INSANE that we are not equipping parents to understand and cope with this feelings during pregnancy, and other than a paper screening at your 6 week checkup, no one seems to care

Supporting mothers with postpartum depression and anxiety is crucial for their well-being and the well-being of their families. It's important to listen without judgment, offer a helping hand, and provide a safe space for them to express their feelings.

Encouraging them to seek professional help and connecting them with resources like therapy or support groups can make a significant difference in their recovery.

Remember to check in regularly, offer practical assistance with daily tasks, and remind them that it's okay to prioritize their mental health.

By showing compassion, understanding, and empathy, we can help mothers navigate through the challenges of postpartum depression and anxiety and let them know they are not alone in their journey to healing.

YOU are not alone on YOUR journey. 👩🏼‍🤝‍👩🏿👫👬

What can we do to help pregnancy constipation??

Constipation is a common symptom of pregnancy and can even occur in the first trimester.
Some reasons include changes in hormones, iron supplements, pressure from your uterus on your intestines, and decreased physical activity.

Fortunately, there are many things you can try to get things moving, including upping your fiber intake with these 6 foods!

Just make sure to drink plenty of fluids too!

"My family and I had the privilege of working with Connected Transitions and their amazing team of postpartum night doulas, Moira and Monica. They were always available to answer my questions and offer support whenever I needed it (which was often as a first time mom!)

Their practical support was also invaluable.

Overall, I cannot recommend Moira and Monica highly enough! Their support is invaluable, especially for first-time parents! They are an incredible team who truly care about the families they work with and are dedicated to providing the best possible care and support.

Thank you, Moira and Monica, for all that you do!"

We are so proud and grateful to be able to serve these new families in their transitions into parenthood. Our postpartum doulas are selfless and compassionate, if you need support, please reach out!

Wondering what to pack in your birth bag for labor?
It can be overwhelming researching different packing lists of things moms swear helped then during birth.

As a doula who has attended countless births, I’m here to give you a few pointers on my moms most used items during labor!

🩲Disposable Underwear
Some moms love the hospital underwear, I was one of those! But they definitely aren’t for everyone. Bringing 3-4 pairs of disposable underwear to your birth is a good way to make sure you’re comfy after birth without having to rely on the mesh panties the hospital gives you. Plus it’s a bonus if your water breaks and you need to contain the leaking.

🧊Insulated Water Bottle
I say insulated on purpose. No one wants to drink tepid water during labor, it’s just a thing. You’ll want that water ICE cold!

🥜High Protein Snacks
Labor and birth use a lot of energy, and in order to make sure your body keeps producing effective contractions, you need to make sure youre staying fed and nourished throughout labor. Packing things like nuts, protein bars, granola, and nut butters are a great way to make sure you’re getting energy without making you too nauseous
Deciding where to give birth can be difficult for some parents, but there is no wrong answer.

Take a look at the pros and cons of being in each place and decide where YOU will feel most comfortable.

Some mothers feel safer being in a hospital, having medical interventions ready at the drop of a hat when they are needed! Some mothers prefer to be at home, in the comfort of their family and own belongings. And of course there's the happy medium of having a baby at a birth center, which is a good middle ground for wanting the best of both.

Having trouble figuring out where you need to be, talk to your doula or care provider to find which is the best for you and your baby!

The first trimester can be rough, especially if you're experiencing frequent nausea.

Try to eat small, frequent meals to help prevent an upset tummy.
HOT TIP ❗️ keep some nuts or crackers on your night stand to get something in your stomach as soon as you wake. This can help ease early morning nausea.

There comes a point where just making sure your eating is more important than WHAT you're eating.
If you're having trouble keeping anything but "unhealthy" foods down, just remember that this is temporary and you're doing your best to make sure you're getting nutrients (in whatever form that may be)

Give yourself grace and try not to be overwhelmed by the changes that come with the first trimester. Whether you're pregnant with your first baby, or your 7th, the first trimester is ROUGH. We've all been there, you'll get through it.

Did you know that tummy time can help with way more than neck strength?

If your baby if having digestive issues, tummy time can help work that gassiness out.

Baby getting flat spots on the back of their head? Rolling them over for just a few minutes a day can significantly decrease the need for helmets!

Having baby play on their tummies also encourages motor development and milestone progression.

When in doubt, roll it out!

⚠️ it's easy to slip into the background and feel like a burden, but your basic human needs are NOT self-care.

Everyone needs to eat, rest, and recharge to be able to function. Don't be ashamed to ask for help if you feel like you're drowning. There's a reason they say raising children takes a village!

If you find yourself choosing one of these needs as your self-care, it may be time to call in back up.

What are some of your favorite activities to do to pamper and reset yourself?

I personally love sitting by myself in a coffee shop or library and reading!

Postpartum healing is often overlooked, but it's critically important to keep you strong and healthy.

You don't need to rush your healing and to "bounce back". Instead, use the 555 rule to help you slow down and be intentional with your body during recovery.

After all, it took 9 month to get here! You should expect it to take time to feel "yourself" again.

Sometimes those early days can feel like all you're doing is nursing, there's a reason for that!

The first few weeks are filled with short, small, frequent feeds. That's just because your baby's stomach is so small (but growing quickly).

A lot of mom's stress Is surrounding if your baby is getting enough to eat. It's hard to monitor the actual volume of milk your baby is getting if you are breastfeeding, but as long as your baby is continuing to have wet and dirty diapers, you know their getting their nutrients

Curious about when your baby will hit certain milestones?

It's important to remember that every baby is different! All the information you see is based on averages, but every baby develops at their own rate.

Looking at milestones is a great way to help you interact with your baby! Getting familiar with how your baby is changing and growing will help you play effectively 💕

Bath time with your newborn can be both exciting and daunting for new parents! Here are just a few of my favorite tips to make baths more fun for everyone.

🌡️Water Temperature
Make sure your water temperature isn’t too hot or too cold for baby, slightly warmer than body temp will do just fine. Babies have a hard time regulating their temperature, so they’ll easily get fussy if they’re uncomfortable.

🌯Wrap loosely in a swaddle
This is one of my favorite tips for new parents! Babies can be very wiggly in the bathtub, and some newborns may get startled by being exposed openly to the water. If you wrap them gently in a muslin swaddle, it helps them to feel more secure in the water, and will keep them a little warmer.

🧼Use soap sparingly
Newborns don’t get very dirty, and we love to keep all the natural oils on their skin since they are so young. You really only need a pea sized amount of soap for a newborn. Using too much soap can cause their skin to become dry and irritated, no one wants that!

☀️Keep them warm
Have the towel ready before the bath even starts, or if you have an extra set of hands, throw a towel in the laundry dryer and have your partner pull it out when baby is done in the bath. If you can limit the amount of time baby is exposed to the cold air, the happier they’ll be!

I hope this helped make baths a little bit more enjoyable if you’re struggling! If you want to know more baby tips and care strategies, take a look at our newborn class!
